MarsRadio aka Will Castro MarsRadio (AKA Will Castro) is an American DJ/Turntablist from Orlando, FL known for his unusual track selections and for incorporating turntablism into a highly stylized improvisational mixing approach. Currently focusing more on underground house music, his Underground Rhythm District Mix Series features deep house music, tech house and deep dark techno blends that also include nu disco, jackin house, acid house, funk-infused and soulful-jazzy grooves, deep tech, vintage disco and afro-tribal house.

MarsRadio’s overall sound can best be described as moodswings between the funky yet edgy, the deep, sexy, and soulful, and the dark and moody… all honed together by pulsing rhythms and infectious grooves.

Originally a funk/soul, electro funk and hip hop DJ from Southern California, he began experimenting with house music, jungle drum & bass, acid breaks, and techno during the early 90’s. Inspired by megamixes on both the radio and on mixed tapes, he developed a high-speed improvisational mixing style utilizing vinyl records from his vast and growing collection, a style that fuses various music genres together into a highly eclectic blend as pioneered by Afrika Bambaataa in the early 80s and used today by 2 Many DJs/Radio Soulwax, Optimo, Mike Relm, and DJ Craze.

MarsRadio has also been known to mix underground techno, electroclash, future garage, breaks, jungle/drum & bass, goa/psy trance, electro funk, miami bass, funk, B-boy soul breaks/rare groove, underground hip hop, balearic, downtempo chillout, and trip hop.

All MarsRadio mixes are recorded live; no multi-track recording, sync feature, or other like means are used by him.  His preferred gear of choice is either two turntables with either analog vinyl or with two vinyl controllers in tandem with the Traktor Dou DJ software and interface.

MarsRadio is the host/DJ of both the Underground Rhythm District and the Basement Groove Collective mix shows on WPRK 91.5 FM, Winter Park, FL, USA. MarsRadio is also a resident DJ on rotation for the Controlled Chaos mix show at WPRK as well.

MarsRadio’s Underground Rhythm District mix show on WPRK 91.5 FM in Winter Park Orlando, FL. features deep house, deep tech, soulful house, tech house, dark soul techno, jackin’ house, house classics, acid, nu disco, and space disco/cosmic/future house.

The Basement Groove Collective mix show on WPRK features live mixes of vintage disco, US garage/funk/boogie, old school b-boy breaks, global soul, 80s electro funk, freestyle, miami bass, trip-hop, classic hip hop and underground hip hop/rap.

MarsRadio is known for steering away from obvious music selections and digging deeper with underground grooves. Music strictly for the heads.

MarsRadio is a regular contributor to the FSEDM Our Way internet radio mix show on party95.com.  His mixes have also been heard on afterhoursfm.com and on Electric on party95.com.
